High School Graduation Requirements for 2016-2017
House Bill 3218 became effective on July 1, 2016. The bill makes several changes to Oklahoma’s student assessment and accountability system. The most significant change is that it is no longer a state requirement for Oklahoma students to pass End of Instruction exams in order to graduate with a standard high school diploma. For the 2016-2017 school year, the EOI’s will be replaced with Grade 10 assessments in Math, English, Language Arts, and Science. Students also must be tested in U.S. History once during high school, but this is not required to be during Grade 10. While students must participate in the Grade 10 and U.S. History assessments, achieveing a certain performance level is not a state graduation requirement. For students who are already in high school or who enter Grade 9 during the 2016-2017 school year, HB 3218 directs school districts to adopt a plan that establishes which assessments students are required to take in order to graduate from a public school with a standard diploma. The following is a list of assessments that will be accepted for Meeker Public Schools that allows students to meet graduation requirements as outlined in HB 3218:
New Students: If you have a student that needs to enroll, please come to the High School office and complete the necessary paperwork. Proof of residence (utility bill in your name), a copy of your child’s high school transcript, birth certificate, and immunization records are needed to enroll your child.
Parents, if your student wants to get their driver's license/permit you will need a form that is completed by the school. Please request this form at least 1 day in advance from the high school office.
